Annual Show

Starting this year, March 5-7, 2010

we will have our show at a new location:

The Newark Pavlion - Newark, CA

Every year during the first weekend in March, the Society hosts a Mineral and Gem show at The Newark Pavilion in Newark,
California. Many quality jewelry, mineral, gem, bead and fossil dealers display their items over the three day show
(Friday - Sunday). It is considered by many to be the best Society show in Northern California - if not the entire west coast
(Tucson excluded). Club members, private collectors and dealers fill the Pavilion with many great educational exhibits and demonstrations of the lapidary arts and geology.

For the 8th year running, we will have the largest display of fluorescent minerals in California thanks to the Fluorescent Mineral Society. Our show was

also the first on the West Coast to have a special room dedicated to the education and sales of Fluorescent Minerals.

The large display of these rocks is much better in person, but you can click here to view some fluorescent rocks and minerals. If you would like to know how or why they glow click here to download a phamplet.

Our next show is March 5 - 7, 2010
•Friday - March 5, 2010 : 10AM - 6PM

The Newark Pavilion
has a rich history within the bay area. The area around the Pavilion was surrounded by mostly Portuguese farmers.
A fraternity, formally as Council #8 of the Sociedade Espirito Santa (SES), settled in Newark and ended up purchasing the Pavilion.
The organization, SES, was established on July 3, 1940. The Newark Pavilion became a Grande Hall and the location for the
religious celebration of the Holy Ghost (held every July). Today the Newark Pavilion is a community center for everyone and the Portuguese community that still lives in Newark. Events such as weekly bingo, weddings, dances, Quinceanera's and other
functions are regularly held at the Pavilion. The SES, a non-profit organization, awards college scholarships each year to members.
The Pavilion can be contacted: 510-793-4062
